Fandom: the state or condition of being a fan of someone or something; the fans of a particular person, team, fictional series, etc. regarded collectively as a community or subculture.
Hybrid: a thing made by combining two different elements {a mixture); of mixed character; composed of mixed parts.
The Fandom Hybrid Podcast launched at the end of September 2020 and was born out of a love for talking about all things fandom. As a lifelong fangirl, I relish in any opportunity I am given to express my love (and sometimes hate) for TV shows, movies and books, mainly in the science fiction, fantasy, and supernatural genres.
In choosing a team, I knew I wanted to be joined by friends who could meet my gift of gab and love of fandom. Michael and I have been friends since high school and he is definitely my brother-in-geek. Anthony and I have been friends (and occasional co-workers) since 2004, and he is actually the person responsible for my entre' into the podcasting world (by introducing me to Cat, the creator and hostess of the Sci-Fi Party Line Podcast). As Anthony's spouse, Michele and I have also known and worked together since 2004, and she has been a great addition to the team (especially since she likes some of the things that I can't get the guys to watch, like Outlander and The Walking Dead!) . Kacey and I met each other about years ago as small business vendors and found that we had a common love for all things The Walking Dead. Dena - our newest addition to the FHP family - met 17 years ago in our local Atlanta HP social group and bonded over Harry Potter, Twilight, and reading fan fiction.
If you can't tell, we have a lot of fun discussions about geek and pop culture, and fandom in general.
