We're Headed Back to Dragon Con 2025

 

It's the end of summer, and you know what that means - Dragon Con is almost here!!

Dragon Con is the largest multi-media, popular culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film. Taking place every Labor Day weekend, about 80,000 people crowd the streets and take over the hotels of downtown Atlanta to meet friends, celebrities, cosplay and totally geek out. This year’s event will take place Aug. 28 - Sept. 1, 2025. Ticket information can be found on the official website.

Dragon Con’s guest list boasts a large offering of fan favorites from film (John Boyega, Christopher Lloyd), TV (casts from Star Trek, Star Wars, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Once Upon a Time, and Marvel Projects), animation and gaming (voice casts for Baldur’s Gate, X-Men ‘97), live performances, and so much more!

Hanako, Michael, and Anthony will be returning as panelists this year, and Michele will be participating as a first-time panelist - appearing on panels all 5 days. Below you’ll find our tentative schedules and descriptions; come by and say hello if you happen to be around.

Thursday, August 28

8:30 pm - Supernatural Showdown: Recurring Character Edition (Hanako, Michael)

Our panelists will each defend one of the following recurring characters as to why they were essential to the overall story/narrative of Supernatural: Benny, Charlie, Garth, Jody, and Kevin. The audience will get to share their thoughts, then will vote on which panelist made the best defense. (Westin Chastain 1-2)

 

Friday, August 29

10:00am – Muppet Mayhem Tournament (Michael – Moderator)

Classic Track answers the important questions: Who would win a tournament if all the Muppets fought each other? (Marriott M103-M105)

11:30am – Political Intrigue in Genre Media (Anthony)

The politics of Fantasy and Sci-Fi media, from Game of Thrones’ deadly alliances to The Expanses’s tense conflicts between Earth, Mars, and the Belt. Delve into The Hunger Games’ rebellion, Dune’s feuding houses, and The Handmaid’s Tale’s authoritarian rule shaping these worlds. (Marriott M302-M303)

2:30pm – Severance: Who Deserves a Redemption Arc? (Michele)

Milchick. Cobel. Helena. Some of Lumon’s finest have shown signs that they might not stay loyal to Kier. After all they’ve done to harm the innies (and the world), could any of them switch sides? And, if they do – could we forgive them? (marriott M302-M303)

4:00pm – Sinners: The Devil at the Door (Anthony, Hanako, Michael)

Step into the world of Sinners, a place where music intertwines with the supernatural. This fan discussion dissects the film’s musical heartbeat and vampiric horror - celebrating why it struck a chord with audiences. (Hyatt International South)

5:30pm – The Last King of Malkier: al’Lan Mandragoran (Anthony)

A lost kingdom, a reluctant king, and a life bound by duty – this panel explores al’Lan Mandragoran’s journey from exiled heir of Malkier to legendary Warder. (Marriott L401-L403)

5:30pm –Webs, Wit, & Reboots: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (Michael)

Peter Parker returns to animation exploring the early days of the beloved hero. We’ll look into the show’s style, story, and how it reimagines classic characters for a new generation. How does it stand apart from past versions – and what makes this Spidey so friendly? (Marriott M301)

10:00pm – Classic Sci-Fi Court (Michael)

If ordinary civilians make fun of your favorite movie, or say hurtful things like ‘it’s not awesome’, don’t take the Sci-Fi law into your won hands. You take them to court! (Marriott M103-M105)

10:00am – Authoritarianism in The Wheel of Time (Anthony)

From the White Tower to the Seanchan Empire, this panel examines authoritarianism in The Wheel of Time. Explore how power, control, and obedience shape societies – and the heroes who resist them. (Marriott L401-L403)

1:00pm – Echoes Through Time: The Outlander Saga Continues (Hanako)

As Outlander, the hit series from STARZ, heads into its final season, we've joined with the BritTrack to take a look at this beloved show. Our panel of super fans will discuss what we've seen so far, and what we hope to see as it comes to an end. Joint with Alternate History Track.

2:30pm – Classic Sci-Fi Fandom Feud (Michael)

We asked 100 Dragon Con attendees to tell us their favorite answers for this 100% geek-adjacent game show. Let’s play the Fandom Feud!

2:30pm – The Walking Dead: The Post Rick Era (Hanako)

After Rick Grimes’ departure, The Walking Dead shifts focus to new leaders like Michonne, Daryl, and Carol, while dealing with deadly human and undead threats. These new series explore the rebuilding of sociate, personal struggles, and evolving dynamics post-Rick. Join us for this fan discussion! (Westin Chastain G)

7:00pm – MCU: From the Heart of Wakanda: New Stories, Old Powers (Michael)

Not to make anyone feel old, but Twilight came out 20 YEARS AGO! Come join us as we reminisce about our favorite sparkly vampires and the legacy those books have left for YA readers. (Marriott A707)

8:30pm – One in a Million: The Dick Tracy Movie (Michael)

Totally true fact: Sales of yellow rain coats tripled in 1990 when this movie arrived. Another totally true fact: The most popular names for children that year were Mumbles and Breathless

8:30pm – Outlander: Blood of My Blood (Hanako- Moderator)

Starz's new series Blood of My Blood adds stories of Jamie's parents and Claire's. Our panelists will explore the universal themes that are a core component of this world, the new characters we've met, and how it falls together with the world we've grown to know. 11:30am – MCU Insurance and The Blip (Michael)

What happened to insurance policies when half the world vanishes – and returns 5 years later? We’ll take a dive into the chaos that entails and look at the superhero consequences through a real-world lens. (Marriott M302-M303)

1:00pm – Assassins and Alliances: The Hidden World of John Wick (Michael)

Explore the secret families, factions, and deadly codes that define the John Wick universe. From the High Table to the Continental, we’ll unpack the alliances and traditions that drive the action – and how rich new content like ‘Ballerina’ expands the mythology behind the bullets. 4:00pm – Jurassic World: Born Again – But It’s Different (Michele)

Dinosaurs are roaring back in the newest installment of the Jurassic World Universe. How solid is this entry? Does this new team have what it takes to keep us hooked on yet more dinosaurs? Does it bring in a new generations of fans, but keep the old? (Marriott M302-M303)

5:30pm – Galactic Shifts: Power, Prophecy, and Foundation (Anthony)

Season 3 of Foundation brings the Mule to the forefront, challenges Hari Seldon’s plan, and pushes the Empire to its breaking point. We’ll do a deep dive into key twists, character arcs, and how the series continues to adapt Asimov’s vision for a galaxy on the edge of transformation. (Marriott M301)

7:00pm – Dune: Prophecy: Silent Thrones: Noble houses and the Bene Gesserit’s Rise (Anthony)

With the TV show canceled prematurely, the Two Rivers gang was left with their stories unfinished - unless you’ve read the books. Join us for speculation on how the series would have adapted the remaining novels. (Marriott L401-L403)

10:00am – Classic Sci-Fi Roll-a-Panel: 1990 & 2000 – Predator 2 to Battlefield Earth (Michael)

Two years, so many awesome movies. Dragon Con has not (yet) expanded to a month, so we never had time to panel about all these movies – until the Roll-a-Panel was invented. Now, the audience rolls our giant custom d20 to decide what we talk about, all in one lightning-round hour! (Marriott M103-105)

11:30am – Star Wars: Why the Empire Failed (Anthony)

‘The Force is strong with this one…but not strong enough.’ From strategic blunders to hubris and internal strife, join fellow fans as we dissect why the Galactic Empire ultimately crumbled. Join our panelists as they debate the biggest reasons the mightiest power in the galaxy fell! (Marriott A706)

1:00pm – MCU: What If - The Final Reckoning (Michael)

Bold alternate realities with emotional depth and cosmic stakes. These past threads converged as The Watcher faced consequences of his interference. Themes of sacrifice, identity, and destiny tied diverse stories together, offering closure while celebrating the multiverse’s endless possibilities. (Marriott M301)

2:30pm – MCU: The New Avengerz, aka The Thunderbolts* (Hanako)

Redemption or patsies? Thunderbolts gave us some interesting connections – examining resolution, manipulation, and the cost of loyalty. It wrapped up some of the MCU’s extended plots, with a blending of dark humor and moral ambiguity into a tense, character-driven mission…and what about Bob? (Marriott M302-M303)
