As they deal with the loss of Tess, Joel and Ellie continue their trek towards Bill and Frank's. Ellie experiences a lot of firsts, and tests her boundaries in the process. Bill and Frank are introduced in a series of flashbacks that lead to present day. Joel and Ellie come to an understanding as they continue on their search for Tommy and the Fireflies.
